Creator of the Silk Road Ross Ulbricht, is appealing his recent conviction and sentence of life in prison.

The Federal mandatory minimum sentence Ross could have received was 20 years but the government handed down 2 life sentences in May, along with a 5, 15, and 20 year sentence for hacking, money laundering, and drug trafficking, among other charges.

The issue the attorney’s are taking up for the appeal is the alleged government corruption that occurred during the investigation. The officers that handled Ulbricht’s investigation in Baltimore, were indicted on charges of wire fraud, money laundering, and theft of government property.

The prosecution apparently set out to make an example out of Ulbricht, as his case is now being considered a case of precedent for the underground online marketplace.

Supporters of Ross Ulbricht have set up a Facebook page to support him.
